  • The treated area will appear very dark for the first 7-10 days. Scabbing/flaking may occur days 3-10. This is normal – DO NOT PICK AT THE SCABS, RUB, OR SCRATCH the area because it will result in pigment loss, scarring, and delayed healing. Allow the area to naturally exfoliate on its own. DO NOT PICK

  • Within 6 hours after the procedure, gently blot the area with a clean tissue to absorb excess lymph fluids until the oozing has stopped. DO NOT PICK

  • DAYS 1-7: Gently wash the treated area 3 times a day with unscented gentle soap like Cetaphil, baby shampoo or just plain distilled water for 10 seconds (to remove bacteria, oil, and dead skin) & pat dry with a clean tissue. Be sure it is dry before applying ointment – apply a tiny, rice grain amount of the A & D healing ointment with a Q-tip and gently spread it across the treated area. DO NOT OVER-APPLY, as this will suffocate your skin and delay healing. DO NOT PICK

  • Apply the ointment before and after washing your face, bathing, or taking a shower for the first 10 days. This will protect the healing area from bacteria, soap, and other debris or particles.  Always try and wash around the treated area. DO NOT PICK

  • DO NOT take a shower for the first 3 days following the procedure. ONLY take a bath and wash your body during those 3 days. AVOID the shower water hitting the area for 10 days. Shower as if you’re trying to keep your makeup on. Do not face the showerhead. AVOID long hot showers for the first 10 days because this will cause the pigment to sweat out of the skin.

  • AVOID sleeping on your face for the first 10 days. Use a fresh pillowcase

  • AVOID strenuous workouts for 7 days

  • AVOID saunas, swimming, steam rooms, etc. for 14 days

  • AVOID Retinol products, acids (including glycolic and hyaluronic) near the treated area.

  • DO NOT apply makeup or sunscreen on the treated area for 14 days, as this may cause pigment loss, or more severely, infection.

  • FOR THE NEXT 30 DAYS: Avoid Sun bathing (and wear a hat when in the sun), tanning beds, light (laser) therapy, chemical peels, fruit acids, microdermabrasion, creams that contain regeneration factors. You should avoid laser treatments during the healing period (Fraxellaser, IPL) because they can destroy the pigment and cause inflammation. Faster fading of pigment can happen if you are taking antibiotics or hormone therapy.

  • DO NOT PICK

  • If you have excessive redness, swelling, tenderness, elevated temperature, or purulent drainage from the procedure site, please contact your physician as the area may be infected. FAILURE TO FOLLOW AFTERCARE PROPERLY MAY CAUSE LOSS OF PIGMENT, DISCOLORATION AND/OR INFECTION.

  • LIPS: Avoid drinking hot liquids for the first10 days. Drink liquids through a straw for the first 10 days.

  • BROWS: Oily skin types typically need more frequent touch ups. (2-3 times per year) than normal to dry skin (1 touch up 6-10 weeks following initial treatment) This does not apply to lip blush.
